Have you recently heard your city leaders talking about a “sustainability plan” for your community, or mentioning something called “Smart Growth”?  Take a minute to do a quick experiment.  Open a browser window on your computer and search using the following three word phrase: “Carrollton Sustainability Plan”.  Chances are you will see page after page, each mentioning multi-million dollar grants and the words “green” and “sustainable”.  Now try a second search.  This time remove the word “Carrollton”, and search on the two word phrase, “Sustainability Plan”.

Surprised at the results?

The Carnival of Deception

Posted July 15th, 2011 by Fred

by Paul Perry

Most of us have seen the videos. Children, including babies, having their private parts checked with the palms and fingers by uniformed personnel at airport check points. Older ladies have also had their most private parts groped at the same checkpoints by federal Transportation Security Agency personnel, including local ladies, and one of my elderly relatives with her small FAA-approved oxygen bottle. A 95-year-old lady in a diaper was groped at an airport in Florida. It is high time for this to be reined in.

While some Texas legislators were attempting to pass a bill to prevent such abuse, Chairman Barry Smitherman of the Public Utility Commission of Texas was roughly handled by TSA personnel at the New Orleans airport. He described the treatment by TSA uniformed goons as being rough enough to effect his comfort on his flight from New Orleans to Austin. When he asked if he was being retaliated on for opting out of the scanner, he was told yes by a TSA employee!

A “Come & Take It” Moment…

Posted May 25th, 2011 by Julie

The following email was sent out by The Peter Morrison Report today.  It gives a great summary of what happened to the TSA bill, as well as an action step to encourage our Senators to stand strong…

I wanted to give subscribers a quick update.  Things get really
murky at the end of a legislative session and a lot of the
immigration issues are in flux.  Things look pretty bad, frankly,
and it looks like our spineless Republican leadership will fail
again, though I will withhold judgment until IRCOT releases their
post-legislative report after the session ends this Friday.

Today I am writing you about a different issue: the Texas House
unanimously passed a bill criminalizing the sexual assaults
routinely performed by TSA agents.  The Texas Senate was all set to
pass it as well, on a unanimous bipartisan basis, until a
threatening letter from the Texas US Attorney threatened to turn
Texas into a no-fly zone if our Legislature stood up for our right
not to be molested:

http://stopaustinscanners.org/come-and-take-it/

Please visit the link above, where you can send an email to your
Senator.  Senator Patrick calls this a “Come and Take It” moment.
If we won’t stand up and defend our children from being sexually
assaulted by goons with a federal rent-a-cop badge, we won’t stand
up for anything.  Similarly, if our Texas Senators allow themselves
to be bullied by slimy, unelected federal lawyers and judges, we
aren’t worthy of the legacy of our ancestors.

If Stephen F. Austin or Sam Houston were governor, I know what
they’d do.  The minute a federal judge issued an injunction, the
Texas State Guard would be taking over the airports and ensuring no
federal official interfered with the rights of citizens of the
sovereign state of Texas to fly airplanes for business and pleasure
without subjecting themselves to potential sexual assault.

A little commentary on this:

The whole regime of invasive body pat-downs of harmless
populations, like elderly black women, little white girls like my
three daughters, Hispanics and essentially any other demographic
group except for Muslim males is a testament to the tyranny of
political correctness.  Only Muslims blow themselves up, but we’re
not supposed to notice.

On the day of the 9/11 attacks, a white ticket agent, Michael
Tuohey, looked at the ringleader Mohammed Atta, and thought to
himself “this guy looks like a terrorist.”  However, as soon as he
had the thought, he said he gave himself a “politically correct
slap.”  Just think: without PC, 9/11 might have been stopped right
there; there would have been no trillion dollar wars and no TSA
pat-downs.

Another simple solution not involving putdowns would be to simply
have trained dogs sniff the clothes and luggage of each passenger
for explosives.  The Feds won’t do this, however, because Muslims
would be offended: they consider dogs to be an “unclean” animal.
So because Muslims have superstitious hangups about dogs and we
have an irrational immigration policy that has allowed them to
colonize our country, we all get to be molested by the TSA.
Meanwhile, President Barack Hussein Obama is bowing to Saudi
princes.  We truly live in a bizarro world of politically correct
craziness.

What I’m about to tell you should really infuriate you: the people
making the rest of us go through the TSA molestation line have a
different set of rules for themselves.  When Nancy Pelosi gets on
her private jet paid for by US taxpayers, she doesn’t get a
pat-down, or a search, or anything like that.  The elites in our
society all fly privately away from the TSA degradation that goes
on at commercial airports.  It’s amazing the difference between
what our leaders make us endure and what they go through themselves.

When the ruling elites fly privately, they drive their vehicle
directly onto the runway and have their luggage personally loaded
by the pilots and support staff. No one stops them to ask for an
ID, nor does anyone even touch them, and they and their bodyguards
can take anything they want on board, even loaded guns.  This is
what the elites, the Wall Street bailout welfare queens, the Nancy
Pelosis, George Soroses and Rahm Emmanuels reserve for themselves,
while ordinary Americans are abased by TSA goons.

How much longer will the American people put up with this nonsense?

Please go here:

http://stopaustinscanners.org/come-and-take-it/

and use the email contact form to message the entire Texas Senate
and Lt. Gov. Dewhurst.

Sincerely,

What is Agenda 21?

Posted March 16th, 2011 by Julie

From American Thinker, October 2009:

http://www.americanthinker.com/2009/10/un_agenda_21_coming_to_a_neigh.html

Most Americans are unaware that one of the greatest threats to their freedom may be a United Nations program known as Agenda 21. The United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, Division for Sustainable Development created Agenda 21 as a sustainability agenda which is arguably an amalgamation of socialism and extreme environmentalism brushed with anti-American, anti-capitalist overtones.

A detailed history on sustainable development, definitions, and critical actions can be found here. Section III of the Agenda 21 Plan addresses local community sustainable development.  The Preamble and Chapter 28 discuss how Agenda 21 should be implemented at a local level. The United Nations purposely recommends avoiding the term Agenda 21 and suggests a cleverly named alternative: “smart growth.” The United Nations Millennium Papers – Issue 2 (page 5) says this of Agenda 21 and smart growth:
Participating in a UN-advocated planning process would very likely bring out many of the conspiracy-fixated groups and individuals in our society such as the National Rifle Association, citizen militias and some members of Congress. This segment of our society who fear one-world government’ and a UN invasion of the United States through which our individual freedom would be stripped away would actively work to defeat any elected official who joined the conspiracy’ by undertaking LA21. So, we call our process something else, such as comprehensive planning, growth management, or smart growth [emphasis added].
Undoubtedly, residents of any town, county, or city in the United States that treasure their freedom, liberty, and property rights couldn’t care less whether it’s called Agenda 21 or smart growth. A recent example of this can be found in Carroll County, Maryland, where a smart growth plan called Pathways was drafted by the County Planning Department. The plan, if enacted, proposed a breathtaking reshuffling of land rights:
  • Rezoning of thousands of acres of beautiful, low-density agricultural farmland and protected residential conservation land into office parks
  • Down-zoning of agriculture land to prevent future subdivision by farmers
  • Up-zoning of low-density residential land around small towns into higher density zoning to permit construction of hundreds or possibly thousands of inclusive housing units, including apartments and condominiums
  • Inclusive housing with placement of multi-family construction on in-fill lots within existing residential single family communities
  • Endorsement of government-sponsored housing initiatives (subsidies) to ensure healthier, balanced neighborhoods
Carroll County, Maryland is one of 1,168 cities, towns, and counties worldwide that are members of the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI) – Local Governments for Sustainability, which is an international association of local governments as well as national and regional local government organizations that have made a commitment to sustainable development. The ICLEI mission statement closely resembles that of Agenda 21. In fact, the ICLEI has Special Consultative Status with the UN Economic and Social Council and coordinates local government representation in the UN processes related to Agenda 21.
Community leaders working together in Carroll County recently defended their county against overreaching smart growth initiatives. Richard Rothschild, a candidate for Commissioner, emphatically remarks, “Smart growth is not science; it is political dogma combined with an insidious dose of social engineering. Smart growth is a wedding wherein zoning code is married with government-sponsored housing initiatives to accomplish government’s goal of social re-engineering. It urbanizes rural towns with high-density development, and gerrymanders population centers through the use of housing initiatives that enable people with weak patterns of personal financial responsibility to acquire homes in higher-income areas. This has the effect of shifting the voting patterns of rural municipalities from Right to Left.”
Smart growth plans usurp property rights and constitutional rights. Local officials, at the behest of State Government, revise zoning laws to fit into a “smart code” zoning template. A massive reshuffling of property rights ensues. Farmers may lose subdivision rights; conservation land adjacent to population centers may be rezoned into commercial employment centers; and low-density land in small towns is re-designated as growth area and rezoned to accommodate diverse housing including high-density apartments and condominiums.
Finally, a healthy dose of federal- or state-sponsored housing initiatives is embraced to ensure communities are properly balanced. The net effect of these plans is to create highly urbanized population centers throughout otherwise-rural counties, while simultaneously limiting the availability of land for suburban and estate subdivisions, as these are considered an unsustainable waste of land by Agenda 21 disciples.
Clearly, smart growth plans will impact Americans’ future choices in where and how they live. Furthermore, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and other federal and state agencies may attempt to deny grant funds to states and cities that do not adopt smart growth plans.
Most Americans will remain unaware of the implications of smart growth and Agenda 21 until after it is promulgated in their own backyards. Ironically, these plans are more insidious than the Eminent Domain ruling by the Supreme Court in the case of Kelo v City of New London. Under Eminent Domain rulings, property owners usually receive compensation for their losses.
Conversely, smart growth municipal plans, required by statute, enable municipalities to change zoning laws and engage in other regulatory actions that devalue property, restrict off-conveyances, and otherwise erode property values without payment of any compensation to the property owner.
Smart growth has another interesting unintended consequence: it can disrupt conventional alliances and lead to strange political bedfellows. Rural urbanization plans may raise the ire of environmental groups while simultaneously stirring the wrath of both conservative and liberal residents that want to maintain the rural fabric of their communities. Conversely, developers, sensing opportunity, may side with government smart growth bureaucrats in support of these plans.
Regardless of political orientation, two indisputable facts remain. Agenda 21 is a direct assault on private property rights and American sovereignty, and it is coming to a neighborhood near you.

Rick Perry: Let States Secede From Social Security

November 5, 2010
Evan McMorris-Santoro

Freshly reelected Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) just isn’t ready to give up on the secession talk that made him a topic of conversation last year. Taking a national victory lap after his election to an unprecedented third term this week, Perry is out talking up his new plan to break up the union, kind of: It’s time, he says, to let states opt out of Social Security.

‘Arizona Style’ Immigration Law Proposed for Texas

conservative lawmaker files bill in first hour of filing period for 2011 session
By Jim Forsyth
Monday, November 8, 2010
Less than an hour after the period began for filing bills for consideration in the 2011 Legislative session, State Rep. Debbie Riddle (R-Tomball), a leader of the newly muscular conservatives in the Legislature, filed an ‘Arizona style’ measure that would crack down on illegal immigration, 1200 WOAI news reports.

Riddle says her measure is a response to what she says is the escalating violence caused by Mexican and Latin American gangs in Texas .

“It is absolutely out of control with the gang related crime, which is going through the roof, so, yes, we are addressing this, and quite frankly, I am not worried about political correctness,” Riddle told 1200 WOAI news.

The measure would be similar to Arizona ‘s controversial SB 1070, in that it would require that local police work with federal immigration officials in determining the legal status of a person who is in their custody.

“If that individual is already being detained, because of another crime, then that officer can inquire as to one’s immigration status,” Riddle said.

The Arizona law has been placed on hold pending a court challenge. Riddle says her measure would help it withstand similar legal challenges.

Riddle’smeasure would also deny all state funds to any community which declares itself a ‘sanctuary city’ and refuses to aggressively enforce immigration laws.

Why moderate Straus should not be Texas Speaker after our conservative victories this year.

Posted November 3rd, 2010 by Julie

The following is taken from a Facebook post by Rick Green of Wallbuilders…

Below is a message from my mentor, David Barton. I strongly urge all Texans to read it and take the action steps at the bottom of the note. Take them TODAY as the Speaker’s race will be decided very quickly.

As a conservative wave sweeps the nation, I wanted to share with you some important information related to efforts to thwart this conservative progress in Texas.

Earlier this summer in a previous piece, </span>http://grassroots-politics.com/ <span> I documented how Democrats were able to choose the current liberal Republican Joe Straus as Speaker of the House, and how that under him, many popular conservative measures were killed in the last legislature, including Voter ID (which had a 90% support rate among Republicans) and a very popular pro-life bill (which had nearly 70% support). Both measures had already passed the Republican Senate and Governor Perry was waiting to sign them, but these (and many other conservative measures) were killed in the House by the Republican Speaker and his liberal lieutenants.

Interestingly, an independent political science professor has now statistically proven just how successful the Democrats have been under this Republican Speaker. Dr. Mark Jones of Rice University has authoritatively documented that the Democrats passed more of their agenda under Republican Speaker Joe Straus than they did when Democrat Pete Laney was their Speaker.

The reason that this occurred is because the Republicans as a collective body did not select Republican Speaker Joe Straus, which is the standard procedure in every other Republican legislative body across the nation. Instead, a “Gang of 11″ liberal Republicans joined with the Democrat minority to create a working majority and elect liberal Republican Joe Straus as House Speaker – that is, he was the choice of Democrats more than of Republicans. Since Speaker Straus is beholden to the Democrats to keep his position, he facilitates their agenda, as proved by Dr. Jones.

The State Republican Executive Committee (SREC) of the Republican Party of Texas just passed a resolution calling on Republican members of the State House to select their Speaker in Republican Caucus and then carry that selection to the floor of the House and pass it there.http://www.unifiedrepublicans.com/

In this manner, Republicans rather than Democrats will select the Republican Speaker of the Republican-controlled House. If the Republicans in caucus choose Joe Straus as their Speaker, that is fine; at least the decision will have been made by Republicans rather than Democrats.

Regrettably, however, following the passage of that common-sense resolution by the State Party, Speaker Straus’s liberal Republicans called the State Party and threatened to withhold $170,000 they had pledged unless the Party rescinded its call for a Republican Speaker to be chosen by Republicans.

Republicans have worked too hard to allow a handful of liberal Republican State Representatives to give the House over to Democrats. In fact, in this election, there will be a significant increase in the number of conservative Republicans elected to the House, making it even more important that the Speaker be chosen by Republicans. In order for our last decade of hard work in electing conservative Republicans to not go to waste, I urge you to:

1.    Contact your state representative. http://www.fyi.legis.state.tx.us/

2.    Send them a copy of the SREC resolution. http://www.unifiedrepublicans.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=2&Itemid=2

3.    Ask your Representative publicly to announce their support of the resolution for Republicans to select the Republican Speaker by signing on to the website provided for that purpose. http://www.unifiedrepublicans.com/

Texas has become the envy of the nation by enacting conservative economic and social policies in the legislature. Let’s not let liberal Republicans join with Democrats to stop that progress. Please act today to contact your state representative. After all, what is controversial about Republicans simply meeting together, deciding who will be the Speaker candidate, and emerging with a single voice?  What could be more unifying?

Please act today. And please share this information with your conservative friends.

God bless! David Barton

Is Arizona Immigration Law in Danger of Being Overturned?

Posted July 28th, 2010 by "Yawn"

Foxnews.com published this report today:

Federal Judge Blocks Part of Arizona Immigration Law

A federal judge on Wednesday blocked some of the toughest provisions in the Arizona immigration law, putting on hold the state’s attempt to enforce federal immigration policy.

Though the rest of the law is still set to go into effect Thursday, the partial injunction on SB 1070 means Arizona, for the time being, will not be able to require police officers to determine the immigration status of anyone they stop or arrest.

People are outspoken on both sides of the law, but one thing is certain, Aliens coming into our borders illegally has to stop! For security, as well as, legal reasons.

Lies, Misunderstandings, or Business as Usual?

Posted July 25th, 2010 by "Yawn"

An article by Roy Beck (Founder & CEO of NumbersUSA): Author of Fed’l 287(g) Law Says It Was Written to Allow State Laws Like Arizona’s was posted in NumbersUSA.com yesterday.

Rep. Lamar Smith has had it with so-called experts lying about what federal law allows for local enforcement of immigration rules.

In today’s Washington Post, he takes to task the immigration chiefs of the past two Presidents (one Republican and one Democrat) who have joined others in distorting the purpose of the “287(g)” local enforcement program, which is something of a model for the Arizona law that is scheduled to take effect later this week but is also tied up in federal court.
