The Morning After

Posted November 3rd, 2010 by Julie
Patriots,
Election results are in, and we have so many reasons to celebrate!  It is because of YOUR involvement and efforts that the country turned red last night.  Have you seen the new map?  Take a look:  http://www.politico.com/2010/maps/#/House/2010RED is a beautiful color!  Throughout last night and this morning I've received a lot of thank yous for my work with the tea party, and each time I feel odd accepting the praise.  What did I do??  It doesn't feel like much.  You may be saying the same to yourself.  But then I realized… that's the point of the tea party!  It's the combined effort of all of us as individuals doing little things that add up to great victories.  If you voted, donated, volunteered, walked, emailed, facebooked, talked to friends and family, worked the polls…  whatever your role, together we brought real change to America last night.  Thank you!

So, let's enjoy our victories and take a day or a week to breathe, but then it's back to work!  We didn't get here by slacking off, and we don't want to lose our momentum now.  As Winston Churchill put it…
Now this is not the end.  It is not even the beginning of the end.  But it is perhaps the end of the beginning.
Compromise??  LOL!
So now that the Dems are losing power, Harry Reid is telling Republicans that we must now compromise and work together.  Huh??  Is that what the Dems did when they were in control?  Here's a news flash for Harry… Americans have soundly rejected your socialist agenda and there will be no compromise!  If anyone thinks we were tough on the Democrats, just wait and see how we go after the Republicans if they fail to do what we've voted them in to do!  We must be watchful, vocal, and involved. Where do we start?  Right here in Texas…  The Texas House!  Keep reading…

Texas Speaker of the House
Texans, listen up!  This is no time to grow weary in the fight.  With redistricting on the agenda, we must be alert and aware regarding our Texas legislature.  And things will start happening fast.  Please read this article and react as directed.  (And notice our own Vicki Truitt's shout out on Facebook to the RINO Speaker of the TX House Straus:  Thanks to Speaker Straus for investing in Texas' future!)  You'll also want to note that our Dec 13 meeting will focus on this issue.  Put it on your calendar now before your holiday activities crowd it out!

White vs. Perry

Posted October 8th, 2010 by Julie

Here’s one thought on the Texas Governor’s race.  Opinions among Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians and Independents are all over the place.

BECKELS #1 UPSET PICK:
WHITE WILL DEFEAT PERRY!
This morning, on Fox News America’s Newsroom with Bill Hemmer, Fox contributor Bob Beckle issued his number one pick for upset of the election: Bill White will defeat Governor Rick Perry for Governor of Texas.
Unfortunately, this is simply another story concerning the same issue that we have been warning Texas about for months.
Most experts agree that the ACORN factor will run around the 3% figure. The fly in the ointment is the 18% of Republicans that are either undecided or have made the decision to vote for White to punish Perry for an issue or two they are upset about. If you will excuse a saying from comedian and fellow Texan Ron White, You Can’t Fix Stupid!
For those Republicans that are truly undecided (and I cannot believe we are even having to point this out at this date), possibly a refresher course is needed to remind you of just EXACTLY who Bill White is:
  • Bill White is anti-gun and supports gun control. He was one of only two mayors in Texas that joined New York Mayor Bloomberg’s anti-gun group. He later resigned when he found out how far out on that limb he had gone. His excuse for resigning: he didn’t know what he was joining. And this is a man who wants to be Governor of the greatest state in the nation;
  • Bill White OPPOSSES the constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage;
  • Bill White personally made Houston one of the largest Sanctuary City populations in the country;
  • Bill White supports ObamaCare;
  • Bill White supports Cap and Trade. Barack Obama said, ‘Under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket,’ and Bill White believes that cap and trade doesn’t go far enough;
  • Bill White’s tenure as Houston’s mayor is a scandal, to say the least. He raided pension funds to pay for highly questionable programs that HE instigated while Mayor. His part in Metro-Gate is known by everyone in the administration, although he denies any part in it. Those who do their homework on this issue will find that the money trail in this mess leads straight to Bill White! The bills he left when departing as Mayor are astronomical and have been verified by Houston’s current Mayor, at least up until recently when the Obama ground troops essentially told her to shut-up. ANYONE who cares to look into the specifics of White’s tenure in Houston can find it all over the internet. The details are simply too long to go into here.
  • Considering the above, it is no wonder that Bill White has no intention of releasing his tax returns;
  • Bill White REFUSES to commit to not raise taxes on Texans;
  • The retired Ernst & Young accountants, who conducted an unofficial audit of Houston’s finances after the Bill White term, determined that Bill White may have led the City to the brink of bankruptcy;
  • Bill White has repeatedly stated that military men and women should have a say in races for President, Vice President or Congress; however, they should not be able to vote in the state, county or local elections;
  • Bill White supports the Obama regimes EPA grab of Texas emission laws. If this grab is successful, tens of thousands of Texas jobs will be lost;
  • Bill White is a trial lawyer and opposes lawsuit reforms (imagine that!).
And this is the man that some of our Republicans are undecided about because they are upset with Rick Perry about one or two issues? This kind of thinking folks, is EXACTLY how we wound up with Barrack Obama!

Gov. Rick Perry can claim his widest lead yet over Democratic challenger Bill White

Posted October 6th, 2010 by "Yawn"

The WFAA-Belo Texas Poll shows half of 704 likely voters surveyed by Public Strategies support Perry over White, and it’s not much different in North Texas, where Perry leads White 48 to 34 percent.

As White campaigned in North Texas, he said that despite the findings of the WFAA-Belo Texas Poll, the race is really much closer.

The poll found that with two weeks to early voting, likely voters think Perry would do a better job on the economy, border security and education.

Record Number of Black Conservatives May Be Elected to Congress in November

Posted September 29th, 2010 by "Yawn"

In an article posted on «Newsmax.com»:

Black GOP Poised to Score Historic Election Victory

By: David A. Patten

Riding a fierce anti-incumbent wave, Republicans have an opportunity to make history by electing a record number of black conservatives to Congress in November.

Fourteen black Republicans have received the GOP’s nomination in their respective congressional districts. If just three of them win, it would mark the first time since Reconstruction that more than two African-Americans from the Republican Party have served in Congress, according to The Frederick Douglass Foundation.

“This will be the most successful election cycle for African-American Republicans in at least the last 20 years,” Republican Ken Blackwell, former Ohio secretary of state, tells Newsmax.

Blackwell estimates there is a 75 percent chance that at least three black Republicans will win national office this cycle.

Five or more victories by black Republicans would signal that the long-awaited dream of a Republican big tent — the opening up of the party to greater ethnic and gender diversity — finally could be coming true.

Frances Rice, head of the National Black Republican Association, recently told Newsmax that the increase in black GOP candidates is noteworthy. But she blames the mainstream media for ignoring black Republicans in previous election cycles.

“You have to keep in mind black Republicans have been running for a number of years,” she said. “They’ve been ignored because talking about them as Republican candidates didn’t fit into the media template.”

* Stephen Broden, Texas-30 — Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has called it “an honor” to endorse Broden, who has pastored a church in the Dallas area for over 20 years. Broden’s campaign has won national attention, with other endorsements coming from Rep. Pete Sessions and Rep. Jeb Hensarling, among others. Broden is a passionate defender of conservative principles and limited government, which he identifies as the key to American greatness. Broden’s opponent is Eddie Bernice Johnson, who has been caught in the ethics spotlight for distributing college Congressional Black Caucus Foundation scholarships to her four relatives and a top aide’s two children. Johnson denies any favoritism, and said she couldn’t find any other children in her district who were “very worthy.” This sparked a broadside from Broden that all the children in his district are worthy. CBC Foundation general counsel Amy Goldson told the Dallas Morning News Johnson’s actions violated its nepotism rules, and are “of great concern.”

GOP leaders have been talking for years about expanding the GOP tent to include more minorities.

There are 42 African-American Democrats in Congress, a number that includes the lone black senator, Sen. Roland Burris of Illinois, and non-voting delegates from the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

One reason more black Republican candidates haven’t run for office may be that they usually end up on the receiving end of brickbats and outright slurs from progressives, who react to any rivalry for the black vote, more than 90 percent of which traditionally goes to Democrats.

Black Republicans are facing another frustration this year: The mainstream media insists on crediting Barack Obama, of all people, for their ascendancy.
Timothy Johnson, co-founder of The Frederick Douglass Foundation, tells Newsmax that the media could be right but not in the way they think.

He contends more qualified black Republicans have stepped up to run this year because they have been alarmed by the direction America’s first black president is taking the country.

“Yeah,” says Johnson, “you had a bunch of blacks who said, ‘We’re tired of being stereotyped that all of us think like him.’”

NETTP Patriots Sound Off On Their Picks For Governor

Posted September 20th, 2010 by Julie

I asked people to share with us who they are voting for for TX Governor and why. Here are the unedited responses I received…

I support Gov. Perry for governor. I don’t see a substantial difference between White and Perry, but the number one issue to me and my family is border security and I don’t believe the steps necessary to accomplish this goal can be successful by other than a lame duck. ~~J.J., NRH

You asked who we wanted for Govenor……………..For my husband and I it is Rick Perry all the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ~~R.W., Keller

I had heard good and bad about Governor Perry. As a Floridian I had heard the controversy of the planned Texas Highway that would cut across the State and I had my own doubts as to whether this was a good idea. I am not a real fan of Perry. I question if he is a true conservative and had Debra Medina not shot herself in the foot in my opinion over her notion about the Trade Centers I may have voted for her, except that I thought she did a very poor job in the debates. Kay Bailey in my view won the debates but frankly I thought she was a closet liberal telling me what I wanted to hear. So I opted for the Governor in the Primary. I will vote for him in the general election but I do so with a reluctant vote. I do honestly think he has gotten the message from us Texans and may walk the straight and narrow…But a three term anyone is cause for concern.
Now about Bill White. He is the typical Democrat, demagogue. He leaves me cold with his campaign adds. He got a lot of favorable press in Florida after Hurricane Katrina and until I came to Texas had no idea what political party he associated himself with. I listen to his adds and want to puke. He gives no specifics and in one add he has some business man telling us how he is going to get Texas out of either debt or bankruptcy.. Did not know Texas was that broke…Is it? Then he has this add that says, Texans want the Feds to enforce our Borders. He says that he will send thousands of cops down to the border to “arrest drug dealers and gang members.” He does not say he is going to arrest illegal aliens. His add makes it sound as if he is tough on illegal immigration but what I hear is a lot of double talk that trys to make it sound good. Then the kicker in my view is him saying in a sarcastic tone, (listen for yourselves) that the Governor has had years to get Federal Resources for and listen to the language, “for the Resources he CLAIMS WE NEEDED ALL THESE YEARS.” So what I hear White say in sarcastic terms and the scornful look on his face as he says it, is that the Governor has failed. Yet listen carefully and what you hear that is not said is that Bill White does not think we need all those resources. If he did why would he say the Governor claims we need these resources. If he truly belived in tighter border security he would say something like, “The Governor failed to get the resources we Texans need.” not what “He claims we need.” Bill White is a ture democrat. he believes in bigger government. He does not want to stem the invasion of illegals because they translate to demorcrat votes. After your email I went to You tube and watched several Bill White interviews.. I suggest you do the same and draw your own conclusions and listen to what he does not say instead of what he does say. ~~J.P., Bedford
I support Gov. Perry for Governor. Although I do not agree with him 100% of the time, I have never agreed with any politician 100% of the time. For the past almost two years, we’ve seen and lived with the train wreck of inexperience and liberalism. I feel voting “against” Perry will give us that same result again. ~~L.J., Bedford
I go for Perry.
Bill White: Lets examine his record on Cap and Tax, Obama Care, (he says there are provision he does not like but lets ask him if he would have voted for the bill anyway.) Let’ s talk to him about the debt in Houston. Let’s talk to him about Houston’s crime rate and ask him if Houston was in fact a Sanctuary City. Lets find out what he really feels about our Second Amendment Rights, (we sure know where Governor Perry stands….we know he carries….and shoots coyotes too.)
Bill White does what every democrat does. he tries to sound middle of the road conservative so we won’t dismiss him outright but when it comes to the nitty gritty he is a Liberal, tax spend and tax some more guy….He talks about making college more affordable….and who is going to pay for it……? Wanna guess? ~~D.P., Bedford
I am voting for Rick Perry because the Texas GOP Platform reflects my conservative values and I could never vote for a candidate (Bill White) who would help to advance the Obama progressive agenda. ~~B.K., Keller
Perry because white will back Obama in everything he does to the state of Texas. ~~C.M., Watauga
