Lesson 1: What is a Precinct and What Does My Precinct Look Like?

Real political change begins at the local level and there is no section of political geography smaller or more local than the precinct. By getting involved in the political process at this level you can begin to exert a growing influence on the world around you and do your part in promoting the ideals and principles that American’s have protected for generations.
All precincts have a number. Do you know what your precinct number is?? If not, you can find your precinct number located on your voter card. Do you know where your precinct number is on your voter card? If not, click here to find out! Don’t have your voter card? Click here to find your information online! Once your have your precinct number, this is what you do to SEE your precinct geographically:
First off, click here. At the top right hand of the District Viewer page, click on “Precincts”. Then go to the top left side of the page and click on “Find”. From that drop down menu click on “Precinct”. A pop up will appear on the Texas map. Find your county and click on that. Then find your precinct number and click on that. Then click “Find”. Wahlaa! THERE is the geographical area of YOUR precinct!
