WHY?
Posted September 20th, 2010 by Julie
I asked people to share with us who they are voting for for TX Governor and why. Here are the unedited responses I received…
I support Gov. Perry for governor. I don’t see a substantial difference between White and Perry, but the number one issue to me and my family is border security and I don’t believe the steps necessary to accomplish this goal can be successful by other than a lame duck. ~~J.J., NRH
You asked who we wanted for Govenor……………..For my husband and I it is Rick Perry all the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ~~R.W., Keller
I had heard good and bad about Governor Perry. As a Floridian I had heard the controversy of the planned Texas Highway that would cut across the State and I had my own doubts as to whether this was a good idea. I am not a real fan of Perry. I question if he is a true conservative and had Debra Medina not shot herself in the foot in my opinion over her notion about the Trade Centers I may have voted for her, except that I thought she did a very poor job in the debates. Kay Bailey in my view won the debates but frankly I thought she was a closet liberal telling me what I wanted to hear. So I opted for the Governor in the Primary. I will vote for him in the general election but I do so with a reluctant vote. I do honestly think he has gotten the message from us Texans and may walk the straight and narrow…But a three term anyone is cause for concern.
Now about Bill White. He is the typical Democrat, demagogue. He leaves me cold with his campaign adds. He got a lot of favorable press in Florida after Hurricane Katrina and until I came to Texas had no idea what political party he associated himself with. I listen to his adds and want to puke. He gives no specifics and in one add he has some business man telling us how he is going to get Texas out of either debt or bankruptcy.. Did not know Texas was that broke…Is it? Then he has this add that says, Texans want the Feds to enforce our Borders. He says that he will send thousands of cops down to the border to “arrest drug dealers and gang members.” He does not say he is going to arrest illegal aliens. His add makes it sound as if he is tough on illegal immigration but what I hear is a lot of double talk that trys to make it sound good. Then the kicker in my view is him saying in a sarcastic tone, (listen for yourselves) that the Governor has had years to get Federal Resources for and listen to the language, “for the Resources he CLAIMS WE NEEDED ALL THESE YEARS.” So what I hear White say in sarcastic terms and the scornful look on his face as he says it, is that the Governor has failed. Yet listen carefully and what you hear that is not said is that Bill White does not think we need all those resources. If he did why would he say the Governor claims we need these resources. If he truly belived in tighter border security he would say something like, “The Governor failed to get the resources we Texans need.” not what “He claims we need.” Bill White is a ture democrat. he believes in bigger government. He does not want to stem the invasion of illegals because they translate to demorcrat votes. After your email I went to You tube and watched several Bill White interviews.. I suggest you do the same and draw your own conclusions and listen to what he does not say instead of what he does say. ~~J.P., Bedford
I support Gov. Perry for Governor. Although I do not agree with him 100% of the time, I have never agreed with any politician 100% of the time. For the past almost two years, we’ve seen and lived with the train wreck of inexperience and liberalism. I feel voting “against” Perry will give us that same result again. ~~L.J., Bedford
I go for Perry.
Bill White: Lets examine his record on Cap and Tax, Obama Care, (he says there are provision he does not like but lets ask him if he would have voted for the bill anyway.) Let’ s talk to him about the debt in Houston. Let’s talk to him about Houston’s crime rate and ask him if Houston was in fact a Sanctuary City. Lets find out what he really feels about our Second Amendment Rights, (we sure know where Governor Perry stands….we know he carries….and shoots coyotes too.)
Bill White does what every democrat does. he tries to sound middle of the road conservative so we won’t dismiss him outright but when it comes to the nitty gritty he is a Liberal, tax spend and tax some more guy….He talks about making college more affordable….and who is going to pay for it……? Wanna guess? ~~D.P., Bedford
I am voting for Rick Perry because the Texas GOP Platform reflects my conservative values and I could never vote for a candidate (Bill White) who would help to advance the Obama progressive agenda. ~~B.K., Keller
Perry because white will back Obama in everything he does to the state of Texas. ~~C.M., Watauga

Hello, Patriots!
Our meeting on Monday night was fantastic! If you missed it, you can see videos of our speakers on our website starting Friday. Or you can click here to read a copy of Bill Ames’ presentation right now. They both presented us with some fantastic information and great action items.
Public School System – Action Items
Bill Ames and MerryLynn Gerstenschlager both emphasized the need to support conservative candidates to the State Board of Education. Their recommendations included candidates Ken Mercer (Austin area) and Charlie Garza (El Paso area). You can click on either name to be taken to their websites where you can support them financially.
We were also encouraged to attend a school board meeting and ask them to adhere to the proposed curriculum changes. A script has been provided for you to either read at a meeting or send to the board. Click here for the script.
Sound Off (opinions wanted)
Here’s your chance to tell everyone who’s your pick for TX Governor and why. Shoot me an email with a brief comment, and I’ll compile them to post on our website.
Potluck!
Our most popular event is back! Come eat with us! Our special guests include Stephen Broden and Bill Flores, both of whom are candidates for US Congress. We’ve asked them to join us, and we’re asking you to reach into your pocket books to show them some financial support. But no matter what you can give, please join us for this favorite time of fellowship amongst like-minded tea partiers. It’s on Saturday, Sept 25, from 5:30-7:30pm at 1060 E Highland in Southlake 76092. Last names A-N bring a side dish; O-R bring a bread or salad; S-Z bring dessert. Remember, homemade is always the best, but store-bought is good if that’s what works for you. Please rsvp by Sept 21 to NETTPregistrar@aol.com. Click here for a flyer with full details. Bring your friends and family!
Yard Sign Update
For those who have ordered yard signs, we have sent them to the printer and expect them to be ready in about two weeks! For those who have not ordered theirs yet, please click here to do so, as well as to see an image of the sign. Signs cost $8.25 each. Extras will be available to purchase at our meetings. In most cities, signs will need to be put in your yard on Friday afternoons and removed on Sunday afternoons. These signs are a great way to get the word out to everyday folks that we exist, we’re active, and we want them to join us!
Take a Vacation Day on Election Day
Plan now to take a vacation day on Election Day, Nov 2. Volunteers are needed as election clerks, election judges or poll watchers. We know voter fraud runs rampant, even in our areas. Tea Partiers must become more involved in the voting process to help maintain the integrity of the election results. No experience necessary, and it’s actually quite a fun and interesting experience. Contact Natalie Genco if you’re interested by emailing nataliegenco@commonsensecitizens.net.
North Richland Hills / Richland Hills
Our current city coordinator for North Richland Hills and Richland Hills is moving! We need to get him replaced asap. Please email me if you’re interested. The main job responsibility is sending a welcome email to all new members in your area. It’s a pre-written letter — all you have to do is send it. For those more ambitious, more involvement within your city is welcomed! Some coordinators are organizing get-togethers; some are sending out summaries of city council meetings, etc. The amount of effort is up to you!
Old Laptops Needed
The NETTP could really use a few laptops to help with registration at our meetings, and with voter registration and membership sign-up at booths we host at local events and venues. The laptops need Excel and some sort of internet browser. If you have (or if your employer has) an old laptop you can donate (we don’t need new, high quality ones for the simple functions we need to perform on them), please email me. We’ve had someone volunteer to replace the hard drive if you want to strip yours out before donating.
Ann Coulter on Saturday! Get an NETTP shirt to wear!
It’s finally here! We have the opportunity to hear Ann Coulter and a bunch of other fabulous speakers for FREE on Saturday! Click here for details. If you go, please plan to wear your NETTP tshirt (click here to buy one if you don’t have one yet), and put our web address on your signs (www.NETarrantTeaParty.com). Stop by our booth and say hi!
Todd Smith calls conservative ideas ‘stupid’, refuses to support Republican candidates
Todd Smith is the Republican TX State Representative for the Hurst/Euless/Bedford area. Many of our tea party members campaigned against him in the primaries, and here’s just one reason why. (Note that he will be up for re-election in two years.) This press release was written by Patti Schade.
Republican State Representative Todd Smith (District 92) refused to support Republican Candidate Bill Zedler before the Republican Women of North Texas (RWNT) this past Tuesday. Smith was responding to a question from the audience regarding an allegation that Texas House Speaker Joe Strauss had asked Texas House Committee Chairmen to refrain from support of Republican Candidates who were running against incumbent Democrats.
Smith denied knowledge of the allegation, but when questioned whether he would support Republican Candidate Bill Zedler, Smith claimed he would not. Smith further clarified his position by stating HE WOULD NOT SUPPORT ANY REPUBLICAN CANDIDATES RUNNING AGAINST INCUMBENT DEMOCRATS. At the time of the questioning, Mr. Zedler was sitting about 30 feet away having just accepted a generous campaign contribution from the RWNT.
In a follow up question, Smith was asked whether or not he would support a majority Republican Caucus selecting the next Speaker of the House. Citing a fear of repercussions from House Democrats in the next legislative session, Smith rejected the idea and called it stupid.
Thought for the Day
“Fathom the odd hypocrisy that Obama wants every citizen to prove they are insured, but people don’t have to prove they are citizens”.

Greet the Troops cancellation
A local Republican club had asked us to join them in greeting returning troops at DFW Airport on Sept 21; however, that event has been postponed. Not only have flights changed, but on Tuesday at 10:00 in Arlington there is a redistricting public hearing that is critical to having our voice on record. Hopefully some of you are planning to attend. Details on the meeting can be found by clicking here.
Thanks,

An interesting article forwarded to NETTP by a member…
Progressive Insurance is targeting television shows watched by conservatives such as Fox News. Peter Lewis is making a fortune off of conservative Americans….
http://www.stoptheaclu.com/2005/12/13/progressive-insurance-big-aclu-donor/
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1375232/posts
http://rightfaith.blogspot.com/2005/12/aclu-funded-by-progressive-insurance.html
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Lewis_(businessman)
This is a heads up regarding Progressive Auto Insurance. You know who they are. They’re the ones with the clever television ads featuring the perky brunette actress all dressed in white. What you might not know is that the chairman of Progressive is Peter Lewis, one of the largest funders of the Left in America . He’s your typical rich spoiled kid who took over the company from his father and apparently feels “guilty” for his success and now dedicates himself to making it impossible for anyone else to become wealthy.
Between 2001 and 2003, Lewis funneled $15 million to the ACLU, the group most responsible for destroying what’s left of America ’s Judeo-Christian heritage. Indeed, Lewis is himself an ACLU member. One of the ACLU projects he earmarked his funds for was an effort to sue school districts who have drug testing policies. In other words, this idiot wants teachers to be able to use drugs without fear of exposure. I wonder what he would think if all his own employees came to work drugged out every day.
Lewis also gave $12.5 million to MoveOn.org and American Coming Together, two key components of the socialist left. The former group is perhaps the main group used by the Obama forces to organize their activists; the latter group is a 527 political action group that essentially served as a front for the SEIU union thugs who ran ACORN. His funding for these groups was conditional on matching contributions from George Soros, the international socialist who finances much of the Obama political network.
It’s disturbing that Lewis made a fortune as a result of capitalism but now finances a progressive movement that threatens to destroy the free enterprise system. He reminds me somewhat of Armand Hammer, the former head of Occidental Petroleum who did business with Joseph Stalin and became his good friend, around the same time Stalin was executing businessmen all over the USSR .
What angers me further is the way this company is targeting television shows watched by conservatives such as Fox News. Peter Lewis is making a fortune off of conservative Americans so that he can destroy our country. He’s banking on no one finding out who he is. I think it’s time we expose this clown. When will enough be enough?

Pastor Robert Jeffress of First Baptist Church, Dallas, Texas, has received criticism for telling the truth about Islam.
“Dr. Jeffress Tells the Truth About Islam” — 8.23.10 on Ask the Pastor: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wfb9p3qSRqA&feature=player_embedded
After being criticized by Dallas Morning News commentator Steve Blow, Pastor Jeffress addressed his congregation on 9.5.10 with a full defense of his remarks: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R4dHHbO7Slw&feature=player_embedded
Here is the link to an article from the San Francisco Gate that discusses the rampant pedophilia committed by Muslims in Afghanistan: http://articles.sfgate.com/2010-08-29/opinion/22949948_1_karzai-family-afghan-men-president-hamid-karzai
Here is an article on Glenn Beck’s website that discusses Pastor Jeffress’ remarks: http://www.theblaze.com/stories/pastor-islam-promotes-pedophilia/
Pastor: Islam ‘Promotes Pedophilia’
A Dallas pastor is coming under fire for claims he made that Islam inherently supports pedophilia.
In a recent sermon, Fist Baptist Church of Dallas Pastor Robert Jeffress said that, “the deep, dark, dirty secret of Islam” is that “it is a religion that promotes pedophilia — sex with children. This so-called prophet Muhammad raped a nine year old girl — had sex with her.”
According to TPM, that statement was given during an August 22 “Ask the Pastor” session [ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wfb9p3qSRqA&feature=player_embedded#! ].
The question Jeffress responded to centered on the difference between Muslim Jihad and the Christian Crusades.
But while Jeffress’s congregation gave him a standing ovation for his comments, some within the Dallas community didn’t approve of his statement. Dallas Morning News columnist Steve blow was one of them. He devoted his entire column on Sunday to speaking out against Jeffress.
“It’s hard to know where to start in expressing dismay with the Rev. Robert Jeffress –- for being uninformed, un-Christian or un-American,” Blow’s column begins. He continues, “Where to begin with such broad-brushed nonsense?” and believes that Jeffress comments are endangering our troops abroad by emboldening Jihadists: “Do you think it helps for a prominent pastor back home to disrespect Muhammad as ‘this so-called prophet,’ to refer to him and his followers as pedophiles and to proclaim all of Islam an ‘evil, evil religion’?”
That same Sunday, Jeffress defended himself from the pulpit.”You know, whether I am un-Christian or un-American is something you and readers have to decide for theirselves,” Jeffress begins his defense. “But uninformed I am not.” He goes on to explain that because he takes his job seriously, he makes sure he speaks the facts from the pulpit, and what he said about Islam “was based on facts.”
“Islam does incite violence around the world,” he says, and gives a recent example. He also claims that his comments about Muslim pedophilia were not in reference to this country, but rather to what is “going on around the world,” a distinction he says he made clear to Blow.
“We have laws in our country that prohibit marriage to children,” he said. “But in Muslim nations around the world, there are men who use Muhammad’s relationship with that nine year old girl as a justification for taking child brides.”

In light of next week’s redistricting meetings, please read the information below and plan to make your voice heard in this important decision making process. This information comes for a non-partisan redistricting guide, and a link is provided at the end.
The Guide to 2011 Redistricting was prepared to provide members of the legislature and other
interested persons with an introduction to the issues and constraints that will affect redistricting
in Texas following the 2010 decennial census and to describe the services provided by the
Texas Legislative Council to support the state’s redistricting effort.
The guide briefly outlines requirements of a redistricting plan, explains the redistricting process in Texas, and discusses
the timetable for accomplishing the possible steps in the process. It reviews the data, computer
programs, maps and reports, and information resources that will be available to legislators in
2011 to facilitate the redistricting process.
